Hardware

The Tuxedo Hardware Reference Spec is the list of hardware that is qualified to run TuxedOS. This is done so that developers, tech support and users are all on the same platform, eliminating unnecessary complexity and allowing focus to be put on improving the experience within the specification. Additionally, performance gains can be made by compiling a custom kernel that supports the THRC.

The THRC is determined by the following guidelines in order of importance:

1. Maturity. That is: Stable, secure, performant and feature-rich enough for heavy use.
2. Open Source. Has open source drivers and/or open source component design.
3. Sustainably Manufactured. Made to last and be energy efficient. Follows RoHS compliance.
4. Value. Delivers the above as inexpensively as possible.

In time, we hope to set up a lab to quantifiably be able to evaluate these things for the best data. For now, the spec will be based on anecdotal evidence and online research.
